we´re back home in Germany. And before the daily hussel and bussel starts again I´d like to thank you for the excellent organisation of our holiday in SA. A dream has come true.
It´s so sad I can´t thank Frans personally any more. He has met our wishes in such a perfect way. We would not have changed a thing about the trip except for maybe staying longer in the one or other place. But that was unfortunately not possible. Each place had its own wonders and surprises. There was not a single moment of boredom. Wherever we went there was so much to discover that sometimes we thought we had stayed longer in certain places instead of just two nights. I´m already looking forward to making presentations for our friends to show them what we experienced in SA.

„Die Begegnung die unser Leben veränderte“
Im Jahre 2002 lernten meine Frau und ich bei einer Tour durch Südafrika, organisiert von einem deutschen Reiseveranstalter, Frans Venter kennen.
Wir und alle Mitreisenden waren total von Ihm begeistert! Allerdings der Veranstalter nicht so sehr, vermutlich war Frans zu gut. Daraufhin entschlossen wir uns, unsere Touren ab sofort von Ihm begleiten zu lassen. Dies war eine weise und kluge Entscheidung!
Inzwischen haben wir mit Ihm 7 (!) unvergessliche Reisen durch Südafrika, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana und Zimbabwe unternommen.
Aus unserer Bekanntschaft wurde Freundschaft – und mehr! Heute betrachten wir Ihn als unseren Bruder unserer Südafrika Familie. Das gleiche gilt ebenso für seine Frau und seine Kinder.

I wanted to second the praise delivered to Frans. The program was wonderful. The planning, the activities, the lecturers, guides, the school contacts, (teachers, and staff), and essentially everyone and everything involved, were terrific. The information the students received from the university lecturers, whether they immediately recognized it, was graduate level tourism coursework, and all around them a living, breathing case study in tourism development to which they could apply what they learned. I am certain that the memories of the things they saw and heard and experienced on this trip will reemerge with a renewed significance, no matter where they finally choose to live and work. I am also confident that the experience our students had with the sixth grade class had a tremendous impact. Throughout, Frans jockeyed rough weather, lecturer availability, traveling distance between locations, scenic views, and profound experiences to best advantage. I found it an amazing trip to an amazing country.
I’d also like to compliment my colleague, Ron Blum. He worked his head off to make this a successful and meaningful trip for our kids.
Now, if someone could just do something about the baboons…

Nachdem wir einige Woche von der Reise durch Süd-Afrika zurück sind und die Dinge mit einigen Abstand anschauen können, möchten Marielle und ich uns gans herzlich bei Dir bedanken.
Wir sagen Dank für eine wunderbare Reise, von Dir begleitet; Dank für Deine Geduld mit uns, für Deine Fürsorge, für Deine Flexibilität. Du hast die große Gabe mit Humor uns Eleganz Deine Gruppe zu begleiten und das Programm an zu bieten was allen erwarten. Wir haben Deine Vielfalt und Kompetenz genoßen, wir haben uns mit Deiner Führung wohl und ausgelastet gefühlt.
Wenn ich darf werde ich Dich aller meinen Freunde in Belgien weiter empfehlen, denn entweder auf Englisch, Deutsch oder Niederländisch, in alle Sprachen kommst Du gut an.

Lieber Frans, liebe Liana,
die Wirklichkeit hat uns wieder, wenn wir auch gefühlsmäßig noch im wundervollen Südafrika sind. Kein Tag, keine Nacht vergeht ohne schöne Erinnerungen. Löwen begleiten die Träume. Strände, Gebirgslandschaften, Aussichten, andere Tiere bereichern den Tag.
Lieber Frans, ganz herzlichen Dank für die von Dir bzw. über Dich vermittelten Eindrücke. Es war die schönste, weil eindruckvollste, aller bisher (von Peter gemachten 8 oder 9 und von Gudrun gemachten 3) Reisen ins südliche Afrika. Hinzu kommt die Harmonie in unserer kleinen Reisegruppe. Keiner wollte der „King“ sein oder eine „besondere Wurst gebraten“ haben. Zwei Wochen voller Überraschungen. Eindrücke ohne Ende. Wertungen, was schöner war oder nicht, machen keinen Sinn, weil die Sinne nicht in der Lage sind, ein Wertungsschema zur Verfügung zu stellen. Es bleibt das Resultat, des Ergebnis: Phantastisch!
Noch einmal herzlichen Dank und hoffentlich auf ein Wiedersehen, sei es in Deutschland, Belgien oder Südafrika.

Die Reisen werden sorgfältig geplant und und immer zu akzeptablen Preisen durchgeführt. In einer kleinen Gruppe und Frans als Fahrer und Tour-Guide kannst Du auch abseits der großen Straßen fahren und eine andere Seite der Flora und Fauna des südlichen Afrikas entdecken. Bei einem Aufenthalt mit Frans in kleinen Guesthouses oder Zeltcamps wirst Du die Gastfreundlichkeit deren Besitzer und der südafrika-

Shamefully late but heartfelt thanks for the excellent tour. We were amazed at the breadth of your knowledge not only of places, but of plants, history, geology, food, wine, you name it. Frans had the knowledge!

Just a note to thank you so much for the excellent job you did of looking after us all on our recent holiday in South Africa. We are all agreed that having you as our Guide/Driver made all the difference. It would have been too much for John to have to drive us around not knowing the terrain etc. etc. (let alone loading the scooter and luggage in and out all the time) and of course your knowledge of the history, botany, geology, best viewing places, etc. etc. was invaluable.

Frans Venter, our tour guide. This man single handedly planned every scrutinizing detail of our stay in South Africa. Yes, we had an itinerary that we followed but it was all the little things that many people might not notice that makes all the difference.
Details like calling ahead to ensure our place of visit is ready for us, changing the schedule around to accommodate the group, adding some shopping time, the list goes on. Frans is another one of those “words do no justice” kind of man and I am so thankful for all his help.
